11th/12th out of 14 Mays 2nd Mens crews in times of 10.21/10.37

Philip Bateman reports:

After a mere two outings, M2 competed in Head of the Cam. Twice.

First Race

The first race got off to a fairly good start with the rating quickly hitting 34 and settling at 32/33. Unfortunately, St. Catherine's closed in quite fast, although this seemed to imbue us with a desire to get away. For about five minutes held them off and, after an amazing effort at the railway bridge, pushed them away to a significant distance. Unfortunately the technique went a bit at this point and they came back to sneak past us on the line, but it was a good first race nonetheless.

Second Race

The second race also started well, and proceeded in a fairly similar fashion to the first- except that this time Wolfson II were in pursuit and we managed to push right away from them and hold it together for a strong finish. The race as a whole also felt much more consistent and the crew felt more together, despite everyone being a bit tired.

Overall- a good morning of racing. I even managed to avoid hitting anything...
